2.     Lead Paragraph: The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for right individual to fill the role of Product Development Research Specialist located in Jincheon. The Product Development Research Specialist as a member of the Dow Performance Silicone in Consumer Solutions organization, provides silicone base specialty product solution to targeted market and application such as consumer electronics, display and automotive industry. The key role of Product Development is technical problem solving and enhancement of formulation capability to develop Innovative new product solution which is highly technically differentiation. The incumbent works closely with commercial team to explore new business opportunity and deliver innovative technical solution/product with scientific approach that would help customer success and sustainable growth aligning with business strategy. The position requires intimate knowledge of customer requirements and ability to match them to fundamental properties that our product can provide.

  

3.     Job Description

l  Hold self to highest standards on safety, integrity within and outside of Dow

l  Develop and commercialize new products for targeted customer and application using differentiated technical solution(new chemistry set, modification or development of curing chemistry and formulation)

l  Validate the efficacy of new products by laboratory testing and larger scale trials at customers, using industry standard or customer specific end use test methods.

l  Scientific understandings to ensure appropriate product specification setting to allow smooth project transfer to process engineering and manufacturing.

l  Develop and maintain a technical understanding of the literature and patent related to current and potential commercialization of technology development projects and protect intellectual property.

l  Solve technical problems with scientific rigor.

l  Work and interact with commercialization team and process R&D, Manufacturing team in commercialization project to deliver the innovation new product to customer

l  Lead specific program or project for commercialization as key R&D

l  Understand business strategy and support to develop and strengthen robust commercialization portfolio

l  Effective communication skills are necessary for working with the external customers, and to translate the market needs into product specifications and concepts.

l  Work closely with regional and global technical experts and leverage technical expertise/specialty

l  Documentation of technical report, paper and maintain a technical understanding of the literature and patent

l  Protect intellectual property

  

4.     Job Qualifications:

l  Good understanding and experience of various chemistry typically used in adhesives/sealant, encapsulant, gel, coating, thermally conductive composite in variety electronics application

l  Require basic knowledge of organo-chemistry, polymer chemistry, filler technology, design of experiment, synthesize, formulating etc.

l  Master, Ph.D degree in field of chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer or material science

l  Proven program/project management experience would be a plus

l  Strong initiative and self-management on priority management effectively

l  Research experience in the application such as consumer/transportation electronics, display and semi-conductor etc.

l  Strong verbal, written and presentation skill in English and Korean both for interacting frequently with customer and global team

l  Lead Design of experiment and formulating to meet technical target

l  Approach to literature and patent. Bring and adopt new technical idea to own development work

l  Skillset for basic instrument and analytical tool which is used for mechanical property measurement and chemical analysis/material characterization (Rheometer, SEM, Microscope, Spectroscope, NMR, Chromatography etc)

   Preferred Qualifications:

   l  Experience in leading program and project management experience is preferred

   l  Experience to design or formulating of material relating/using UV reaction, Heat cure reaction, filler treating, synthesize

   l  Knowledge in materials used for displays and micro-electronics, transportation electronics can be advantage

   l  Communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to build networks will be essential to foster team success and accomplish the project objectives.

   l  Fluent in the English

 

              Education:

 

l 유기화학, 화학공학, 고분자공학, 재료 및 신소재 공학 관련 석사 또는 박사 학위 소지자(2023 졸업자 및 2024년 02월 졸업 예정자) 

l Master/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science/Engineering is required
